In 1993 the Metropolitan Government Pavement
Engineers Council (MGPEC) was established to represent all of the cities and counties in the DRCOG (Denver Regional Council
of Governments) planning area. Our goal is to improve the quality of pavements throughout the Denver-Metropolitan
region, and lower the life-cycle cost of pavement maintenance at the local level through the use of standardized paving materials
and uniform design, construction and maintenance practices.
MGPEC is an example of partnerships that are accomplishing activities that will advance improvements
in how we manage our infrastructure on a day-to-day basis. MGPEC efforts have been recognized nationally
and internationally.
MGPEC
actively promotes pavement management programs for all local governments in the Denver-Metro area and works to develop positive
working relationships between local government engineers who are responsible for pavements in those areas.
In this past year MGPEC has accomplished a large number
of goals that will benefit all of us as either taxpayers or the traveling public.
·
Several public/private industry task forces were formed to evaluate the uniform specifications as we continue to strive
for the best possible projects.
·
Our membership continues to grow each year as our standards are utilized by more and more entities.
· Provided various training opportunities for our membership and the pavement
community.
